The gallery

In 1981 Madeleine Lacerte and Michel Guimont join to create the Galerie Lacerte Guimont located on the street Maguire in Québec city. In 1986, Madeleine Lacerte repurchases the shares of her associate, and as a result the gallery becomes Galerie Madeleine Lacerte. In 1987, Madeleine Lacerte appoints her son Louis Lacerte as deputy manager and moves the gallery to its current site on côte Dinan in Québec city. In 1989, the gallery starts taking part in various fairs of contemporary art in Québec and Canada. In 1991, the direction of the gallery is entrusted to Louis Lacerte, with founder Madeleine Lacerte still remaining partially implied in the business. In 1993, the gallery and its publisher merge, and as a result the gallery uses its new branch of the business to publish many catalogues and art books in order to promote the work of its artists. In subsequent years Galerie Madeleine Lacerte exhibits in more than one score of international fairs of contemporary art in Canada, in Europe and in the United States. In September 2003, the gallery changes its name to become Galerie Lacerte Art Contemporain. At the same time it launches a sister gallery in Montreal, Galerie Orange Art Contemporain, located on Saint-Paul East in Old Montreal. Louis Lacerte assumes the general direction of the two sister galleries. While both galleries focus specifically on contemporary art, both also trade in very select secondary market artworks. Both galleries offer valuation services to public institution and private collectors alike.
